Veniard Dyes are a popular choice among fly tyers for a reason: their quality and consistency ensure excellent results. These specially formulated dyes are perfect for adding vibrant colors to feathers, furs, dubbing, skins, and other fly tying materials.

Packing: the dye is packed by us in 9 gram bags to offer a more affordable price.

Simple and Effective Dyeing Process:

  1. Prepare the Dye Bath: Dissolve Veniard dye in cool tap water. Add 2-3 tablespoons of table salt to aid pigment fixation. Gradually heat the water to 60°C (140°F).
  2. Dye the Materials: Ensure your materials are clean and wet before adding them to the dye bath. Increase the temperature to 90°C (194°F) and stir gently with a stainless steel rod or spoon to ensure even coverage.
  3. Cool and Rinse: Let the dye bath cool to room temperature. Wash the dyed materials thoroughly with water and vinegar to remove excess dye.
  4. Dry Slowly: Allow the dyed materials to dry slowly out of direct sunlight.

Prepping Natural Materials for Dyeing:

Natural materials often have a greasy coating that can hinder dye absorption. Here's how to prepare them:

  1. Degrease: Wash the materials with dish soap in warm water. Soak them overnight for stubborn grease.
  2. Rinse Thoroughly: Rinse the materials repeatedly with clean water until all traces of soap are gone.

Tips for Success:

  • Start Small: Always test a small amount of material first to determine the desired color outcome.
  • Experiment Wisely: Dyeing results can vary depending on the material, temperature, and dyeing time. Experiment with small batches before committing to large quantities.
  • Concentrated Power: A single bag of Veniard Dye (9 grams) contains enough concentrated powder to dye a significant amount of material.

By following these steps and tips, you can use Veniard Dyes to create stunning and personalized fly tying materials.

Attention:the dye is very concentrated, it can stain clothes, we recommend you work with gloves in an area that can be easily cleaned.
