The Troutline Tactical Olive Stone Clinger Mayfly Nymph is designed to imitate clinger-type mayfly nymphs from the Heptageniidae family. These insects live in cold, fast and well-oxygenated rivers, especially in alpine streams, rocky runs, riffles and areas with strong current around large stones.

Clinger mayfly nymphs have a compact, strong and flattened body that helps them hold onto rocks, even in powerful currents. Because they live close to the riverbed, they are an important food source for trout and grayling, especially in fast mountain rivers with clean, oxygen-rich water.

The olive colour gives this fly a natural and slightly more versatile profile, making it suitable for imitating many mayfly nymphs found between stones and gravel. Olive is also a very effective searching colour, especially in clear water, medium-fast currents and technical fishing situations.

This nymph is an excellent choice for alpine rivers, pocket water, riffles and deep rocky runs where fish feed close to the bottom.

Details:

  • Imitates clinger-type mayfly nymphs from the Heptageniidae family
  • Natural olive colour for a versatile mayfly nymph profile
  • Tungsten bead to make the fly heavy
  • Designed for cold, fast and oxygen-rich rivers
  • Compact and flattened body, close to the natural insect shape
  • Excellent for rocky bottoms, riffles, pocket water and alpine streams
  • Suitable for trout and grayling
  • Recommended for Euro nymphing, Czech nymphing and upstream nymph fishing

Recommended use:

Use this nymph in cold rivers, fast currents, rocky bottoms, pocket water and deeper runs. The olive colour is especially effective when trout and grayling feed on natural mayfly nymphs, but it also works well as a searching pattern in clear and slightly coloured water.
