Pheasant Ring-necked roosters are popular in fly tying for their feathers from tail. Long and nice colors in different shades of brown, these feathers are used for making nymphs, dry flies and wet flies. What is important here is the length of the barbs. Longer barbs means much easy to make bigger flies or nice colored bodies. Then long feathers are better colored than the short ones which is good to know. These are facts that are appreciated by experimented tiers who know exactly what they want to buy.
Premium Ring Neck Pheasant Center Tail Feathers are ultra selected from what we receive from local hunters.These are th best centre pheasant tail feathers you can find and the stem length is between 55 and 60cm!
Details and Information about our feathers:
- one feather/bag, each feather selected to have stem length between 50cm and 60cm
- the length of barbs can be between 5cm and 8cm!
- to obtain a beautiful body for your flies we recommend to fix the barbs from the tip
- to obtain a nice shape for bodies we recommend not to twist the barbs
- to have a delicate and an uniform body we recommend to use no more than 3 or 4 barbs for one fly, is better to make an under-body in a carrot shape using body thread
- one feather delivered in zip bag
Is good to know that all these feathers are from old roosters, usually over 4 years and difficult to find. All feathers are from game birds from heart of Transylvania hunted in the cold Winter time (means nice and bright colored feathers).

I agree, these feathers are very good. The quality is the best and the barbs are very long. In the past I used Veniard feathers but these are by far the best that I used. With Veniard barbs I needed to fix barns 2 times on the hook shank to complete the entire body. These are long enough to tie flies even on size #10. (Posted on 9/16/2018)Rating
