Troutline Premium Dyed CDC Feathers are carefully selected CDC feathers, dyed in rich and practical colours for tying dry flies, emergers, CDC wings, hackles and delicate floating patterns.
These feathers are selected for their fine structure, soft barbules, natural mobility and excellent floating properties. CDC is one of the most important materials in modern fly tying because it traps air very well and gives flies a natural, light and lively appearance on the water.
Features:
What makes our dyed CDC special is the dyeing process. We do not use aggressive acid dye methods. Instead, we use a slower cold dye process that takes around 7 days from preparation to final drying. This method is more complex and time-consuming, but it helps preserve the delicate structure of the CDC barbules much better.
Acid dyeing can affect the fine fibres of CDC, making them harsher, weaker or less natural in movement. Our cold dye process is designed to keep the feathers soft, clean and functional, while obtaining stable and attractive colours for fly tying.
Each pack contains 1 gram of premium dyed CDC feathers, enough for many flies. The feathers are suitable for classic CDC dry flies, shuttlecock emergers, CDC sedges, small mayflies, midge patterns and modern river flies.
