Troutline Patagonia Black Foam Cricket is a high-floating terrestrial dry fly designed to imitate black crickets and other dark land insects that often fall into the water during warm months. Built with a durable foam body, this fly offers excellent buoyancy and remains visible and stable even in broken water, windy conditions or strong currents.

This pattern is especially effective in Patagonia, where large rivers often hold aggressive trout ready to rise for terrestrial insects. In Europe, it is also an excellent choice for alpine streams and mountain rivers, especially in areas where crickets fall into the water and trout react immediately to this natural food source.

The black silhouette creates strong contrast on the water surface, making the fly easy for fish to detect from below. On slower lowland rivers, this fly can also be very effective for chub fishing, especially when targeting larger trophy fish near banks, vegetation, slow currents and shaded areas.

The foam construction allows repeated casts and good floatation, even after several fish. It can also be used as an indicator fly in a dry-dropper setup, especially when fishing small nymphs below it.
