Macaw tail feathers are used by tiers to create salmon flies and seatrout flies. The long and vivid colored barbs are mostly used to make horns. Lately , these barbs are used to create bodies for river flies.

- the stem is only from central area feather ( one for each bird)
- plenty of barbs to use
- Red Macaw segment (known as Scarlet macaw. or Red Ara) - whih is deep red on a side and bright red on the other side
