The selected CDC Khaki Light Campbell contains a practical mix of CDC feathers selected from Khaki Campbell ducks. Compared with typical large farm-duck CDC, these feathers are often smaller and finer, which makes them especially useful when you tie small to medium dry flies and want a neat, low-bulk finish.
CDC’s natural structure (many fine fibers that trap air and shed water) is ideal for patterns that need buoyancy and a soft, living movement—such as emergers and small mayfly/caddis dries.
What you can tie with it
CDC dry flies and emergers in sizes #22 to #12
CDC wings for small and medium mayflies
Parachute posts / CDC collars
Soft hackle-style CDC for subtle movement in the film
Color and where it helps
The Khaki Campbell shade is a sandy grey–brown with a natural gradient (from lighter grey-brown to deeper brown). It works well when you want a natural, non-flashy look for:
pale olives and small mayflies
caddis in tan/grey tones
general “searching” CDC dries in clear or pressured water
Material details
Thin, elastic stems with fine barbs (easy to handle on small hooks)
Lightweight and buoyant—excellent for CDC-only or CDC-heavy patterns
Approx. 50 hand selected feathers
Feather length approx. 3 to 4 cm (useful range for smaller flies and tidy wings)
A good choice if you tie a lot of delicate CDC patterns and need feathers that fit small hooks without trimming away half the material.
