Veniard dyes are specially prepared for dying feathers, furs dubbing, skins, and other fly tying materials. As probably  you know, Veniard dye is very popular in fly tying world for many years due to quality and consisency.

How to use it:

  • first step is to dissolve the dye in cold tap water.
  • add 2-3 spoons with table salt ( it helps pigment fixing process )
  • heat progressive till water arrive at 60 degrees Celsius
  • add the material  , materials need to be wet and prepared for dyeing process
  • increase bath temperature at 90 degrees and stir with an inox bar or spoon to be sure that material is well covered in solution
  • let the bath dye arrive at chamber temperature.
  • wash the material in water with plenty of vinegar
  • let the material dry slowly

How to prepare the natural materials for dying process:

Is good to know that all natural materials are covered with natural grease. Natural grease prevents dyeing.

  • wash  the material with dishes detergent in warm water
  • keep the material in detergent and water overnight
  • wash the material with plenty of water  until detergent is cleared
  • always put wet material  in dyeing bath
  • always put all material together in dyeing bath
  • before dyeing  all material just  made a test using a small qty of material to figure how will look dyed

The colors are just great and the dyes are very concentrated meaning that you need just a small amount to dye quite a bit of materials.
When dying, other factors will come in to force including product, temperature, length of dying etc. We encourage experimenting with small amounts before investing in large amount of material.
One bag contains 9 grams of dye powder.
